When he's not buffing Val Kilmer's nails, he's writing ads.
Joey Monteverde has been in the advertising industry for more than 18 years. He began his writing career as the writers’ assistant at Saturday Night Live. At SNL, he honed his craft by working with and learning from big-league comedy writers like Adam McKay, Tina Fey and James Downey. After ten years, two Emmy Awards and portraying Abraham Lincoln on screen several times, Joey decided to pursue a career in advertising.
He was hired by Ogilvy & Mather in 2005 where he created memorable brand campaigns for a wide range of clients from Kool-Aid, to Time Warner Cable to Citizens Bank, to many others. While there, Joey was part of the creative team that was instrumental in helping Ogilvy win the NASCAR business.
As an ACD at RAPP, Joey brought his branding experience to clients like Humana and HP while rounding out his traditional background with more social, digital, and CRM experience. At McCann New York, he was promoted to Creative Director and put his complete 360 experience to work for USPS, MGM Resorts, Microsoft, Verizon, Dentyne and National Geographic and helped McCann win ADT.
At BBDO, Joey was promoted to Senior Creative Director for AT&T and FirstNet, bringing the successful “You’re Not a Bad Person” campaign to life for AT&T Fiber and the “Next-Level Network” campaign for AT&T. Joey co-led the pitch team that won the Walden University business. He was also a member of the teams that won Home Depot and ShopRunner.
Now a VP, Creative Director at FCB New York, Joey helps lead the Intuit QuickBooks account and the Smokey Bear work for the US Forest Service.
Joey has a BA in Media Studies from Fordham University and studied advertising at the School of Visual Arts.
He also apparently likes to write about himself in the third person, but he promises he’ll never speak about himself that way.
